Johnny Sanders was just about ready to close the doors at East Fourth Street Liquor Store when two men walked in demanding money.
“I pushed the door back closed. They said give me the money give me the money so I thought he was gonna come into the office so that’s when I got the pistol. I said get out of here! Get out of here! They didn’t go no place so I fired and got the one guy in the back,” Sanders said.
Sanders worked at the liquor store four years ago and just came back to work there again. He says he was worried a robbery could happen, but it had never happened when he was there.
“They come in here everyday so I figured they couldn’t let me live.”
Sanders says when Robert Bolden and Antonio Sproles walked in they meant business.
“Two young guys could have just rushed in with a mask on, but they came with guns so they meant business.”
He says it’s hard for him to think he killed two people.
“I want to say I am sorry to their parents.”
So far, no charges will be filed.
