DETROIT (AP) — A new report says the graduation gap between white and black students at Wayne State University is the worst in the nation among public universities.
The report by the Washington, D.C.-based Education Trust was issued this month. It says Wayne State graduates fewer than one in 10 African-American students while success for their white counterparts is four times higher.
Wayne State academic adviser and recruiter Frank Koscielski tells The Detroit News the finding is “inexcusable.”
The newspaper says Monday other Michigan public universities also were given a failing grade for their white-black graduation gaps, including Ferris State University and Saginaw Valley State University.
