Shannon Sharpe, former tight end and current television analyst, will step away from his duties on CBS’ pregame show, “The NFL Today” while he deals with a temporary restraining order filed against him by Michele Bundy, a Georgia woman.
As first reported by Sports by Brooks, Sharpe, who played on Super Bowl winning teams in Denver and Baltimore, issued a statement through the network, saying, “I have decided to step away from ‘The NFL Today,’ until this matter is resolved. In response, the network issued a statement: “We accept Shannon’s decision and decline to comment further on a pending legal matter.”
Sharpe, who appeared on Sunday’s season premiere but did not comment on the matter, is accused in the temporary restraining order with forcing Michele Bundy to have sex with him, of making multiple threats against her and of stalking her.
