It sounds like an old comedy routine, but some New Yorkers feel that cabbies are picking their fares based on race. Midtown local Lori Sanford was with her cousin Anthony when a cab on 3rd Avenue passed them by for another customer. She confronted the driver, arguing about his actions until the police were called. The cops soon decided that she was in the right and forced him to accept the fare.Taxi and Limousine Commissioner David Yassky says refusing service based on race is against the law, and people should file a complaint with 311 if they experience such discrimination.
