Crust bust! Undercover cops catch pizza delivery robbers

Saturday night at 8 o’clock is the prime time to make dough at pizza shops. But at one Marco’s pizza shop in Elyria, there was an order that didn’t sound right.

“I recognized the voice instantly. I knew it was them again” said Beth Beal Marco’s Pizza Employee. She refers to the same group which lured a Marco’s delivery driver to a vacant home earlier in the week. “I called back the number and it was disconnected.”

Two of the shop’s drivers have been robbed in the past two months. So Saturday night, taking no chances, a Marco’s worker drove by the suspicious customer’s address, which appeared to be vacant.

The pizza shop manager got on the line with Elyria police who made a plan which called for a Marco’s pizza car top, a hat, pizza box, and a rusty Oldsmobile.

When he arrived, Officer Baracskai told the teen that he had to retrieve his money bag from the car. Instead, he radioed other police officers to close in. Two of the teens took off, but were caught by officers surrounding the vacant home. A third teen was found inside the home’s porch, as well as a loaded sawed-off shotgun.

“I am so grateful”, says Beal, “They’ve put so much weight off of my shoulders. I mean the way they were on it. The cops did a really good job.”
