TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A former beauty queen and University of Arizona law school student accused of orchestrating the kidnapping and torturing of her ex-boyfriend is going to prison.
Pima County prosecutors say 28-year-old Kumari Fulbright was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison and six years’ probation.
She pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and aggravated assault as part of a plea agreement that stipulated the prison sentence. The Arizona Daily Star says it was up to a judge to decide how long Fulbright would be on probation after she’s released.
Fulbright and three men were arrested in December 2007 after the ex-boyfriend told police he’d been tied up and kept captive for eight to 10 hours, robbed and tortured.
Fulbright competed in the Miss Arizona contest and was named Miss Pima County in 2005 and Miss Desert Sun in 2006.
