Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A 35-year-old man man who was trying to stay warm died because his generator was pumping carbon monoxide all night on Monday.

Kevin Partee’s relatives say that the house where he was staying had no electricity and it belonged to his girlfriend’s family. His relatives all stood outside in the cold, waiting for information.

“They just told us it was left on all night and the neighbor found him,” said Partee’s cousin Tiffany Stewart.

His family said that he was living with a friend, but had to leave because the apartment was crowded. His cousin, Molcena Smith says that he has been going through hardship after his mother died.

“He sat back here, me and him talking, and we cried” she said.

Partee worked delivering furniture for a company based in Memphis. He was the father of a 14-year-old daughter.

“A sweet person” said Partee’s aunt Tarrita Holmes, “Don’t mind helping and giving.”
