Broadway's Gregory Simmons to stage 'Jitney' for gallery players

Actor Gregory Simmons, who appeared in the original Broadway run of John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation, will stage August Wilson’s Jitney for Brooklyn’s Gallery Players in 2011.

The work, which played an Off-Broadway run in 2000, centers on a group of taxi drivers in 1977 Pittsburgh.

Jitney will run March 19-April 3, 2011. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Simmons last appeared on Broadway in Tennessee Williams’ Not About Nightingales and in Howard Korder’s Search and Destroy.
