DETROIT (AP) — Detroit police say they’ve arrested a “person of interest” in a series of rapes that have terrorized the city’s east side since Jan. 1.

Officer Dan Donakowski on Wednesday confirmed the arrest but declined further comment.

Police say the suspect has raped seven women and tried to attack an eighth. All the victims are black and are between 17 and 33 years old.

The attacks happened about five miles from downtown, and most victims were waiting for a bus or walking to or from a bus stop.
