Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

When Marve Frazier joined Bossip.com in 2006, the domain name was worth $8. She’s since managed to attract millions of monthly visitors to the celebrity gossip site through addictive content that Frazier calls “viciously hilarious,” and she’s founded four new websites with Moguldom Media Group along the way.

Marve Frazier is making history … at the helm of Bossip.com and at Moguldom Media Group’s other wildly popular websites for African-Americans. Frazier became a major voice in the blogosphere from humble beginnings at Bossip, where she served in every capacity early on — from writer to researcher to ad salesperson. A year after launching Bossip, Frazier and Bossip’s anonymous founder began creating Moguldom in 2007, which has since expanded to include four websites — Hip-Hop Wired, Atlanta Post, Madame Noire and Bossip Twitter.

What’s next for Marve?

Frazier will support Moguldom Media Group as it branches into new digital spaces in 2011. This includes the growth of newly launched Moguldom Studios, a division of the company that will provide original online videos for Moguldom’s collection of sites. Moguldom also aims to launch four new blogs in 2011, including a women’s fashion site and a food site.

In her own words …

“Each website has its own brand and its own personality. For example, Bossip is viciously hilarious… Our whole purpose is to entertain, to inform, but it’s edgy.” Hip-Hop Wired is “the authority on hip-hop. We understand that we can’t make excuses [for rappers] making poor decisions. We’re not afraid to put people on blast.”

A favorite quote …

“A leader is best when people barely know he exists, not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worse when they despise him … But of a good leader who talks little when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say, ‘We did it ourselves.’” – Lao Tzu

A little-known fact …

Frazier earned Bossip a coveted spot on Yahoo!’s Top Ten Blogs of 2009, when Bossip’s main story was Chris Brown and Rihanna’s break-up.
