14-year-old creates non-profit group for the homeless

Nicholas Cobb is a lucky high schooler.There’s always been food on his table and a roof over his head. But at age four, he learned not everyone is as fortunate. When he spotted a homeless family living under a bridge. “It just didn’t make any sense to me,” said Nick.
“He became insistent about wanting to do something for them, right then, ” And, his mom, Laura, says he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
It started small with toiletries for the homeless, cleaning supplies for their shelters.
Then two years ago, at age 12, he set up Comfort and Joy, a small non-profit with a big goal. Buying winter coats for the people in need. With the help of his Scout troop, he raised 10-thousand dollars and purchased hundreds of coats.
He even pens a handwritten ‘thank you’ note to every donor. Karen Voelker runs a shelter for teen-age boys like Kendrick who are used to hand-me-downs and rarely receive something new. “I thought he was too good to be true ,” said Voelker.

“It made me feel really good, it gave me kind of a warm feeling inside,” said Kendrick Ruben a City House resident. Now, Nicholas is thinking even bigger.
“I was thinking of a way to raise some more money, and I figured a golf tournament would be a good way,” said Nick. He’s aiming for next fall and hoping to score a hole in one.
