The teen girl who was raped by her high school math teacher over four years ago has reached a $1 million settlement with the Broward County School Board.
The school board voted Tuesday to approve the settlement for the March 2007 incident at Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach.
Conrad Hoever, 47, was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison for the attack on the girl, who was 15 at the time.
The lawyer for the victim, Jeffrey Herman, said Hoever had been accused of harassment and improper touching by students before the attack, and that the school board didn’t do enough to protect his client.
A spokeswoman for the school board didn’t immediately comment.
Herman and the victim are scheduled to hold a news conference later Wednesday.
