Houston police have returned to the headlines today with fresh allegations of police brutality, but the victim is the same, the Holley family. High school sophomore Chad Holley was the center of such a controversy in early February, but his brother Corey, 22, has returned home with similar bruises, markings and cries for help.
On May 17th, Corey Holley was arrested and charged with driving without insurance and on a suspended license. Holley was arrested and taken to the Fort Bend County Jail later that evening, where the calls for help soon started. Joyce Holley, Corey’s mother recalled her sons pleas, ”’Mama, mama, please mama, get me out of here. They’re going to do something. They know who I am’”.
The Fort Bend County Jail says they didn’t beat Corey Holley, but admitted he was very combative and officials did use a taser on him. Holley was bonded out of jail on May 26 and was sent to the Ben Taub Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation yesterday.
