Farmington police have charged a New Britain man who is accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend and her 24-year-old son.

Kenneth Bozeman, 45, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend’s son during an argument at the woman’s apartment on Colt Highway in Farmington on Friday night, then pointing a loaded .40 caliber handgun at them and threatening to kill them both, police said.

Bozeman had left the apartment by the time police arrived around 1030 p.m., but Farmington police tracked him down to Hartford at 11:15 p.m. and Hartford Police took him into custody.

As Hartford police booked Bozeman, he told cops he should have killed the victims, police said.

Bozeman has an extensive criminal history. He was convicted in South Carolina in 1998 for manslaughter and was sentenced to 30 years for that crime, police said.

In Connecticut, he has been convicted for robbery, interfering with police, assault of a victim over 60 and violation of probation.

When Hartford police stopped on Friday night, they found cocaine, marijuana, drug packaging material and a loaded .40 caliber magazine in the car, police said. They have not located the pistol Bozeman is accused of pointing at his girlfriend and her son.

Hartford Police charged Bozeman with the drug violations and Farmington police took him into custody and charged him with assault, threatening, breach of peace, reckless endangerment, weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a pistol, operating under suspension and refusal to be fingerprinted.

Bozeman is being held on a $750,000 bond.

The 24-year-old man received minor facial injuries as a result of the assault, police said.
