The Miami man who police say fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend and held his young daughter hostage was denied bond Wednesday.

Lazarao Bernabeu, 49, is facing first-degree murder and kidnapping charges following Tuesday’s hour long standoff at a home in the 100 block of Northwest 26th Avenue.

Police say that when officers arrived at the home, Bernabeu was swinging a knife and ran back inside the house where he barricaded himself inside with the 10-year-old girl.

The mother, 34-year old Eileen Lozano, suffered from multiple stab wounds and died after being rushed to Ryder Trauma Center.

It wasn’t the first time the two were involved with police.

According to police, Bernabeu abducted Lozano back in 2007 after Bernabeu managed to get inside Lozano’s car and drove her down to Southwest Miami-Dade.

His brother found the pair and Bernabeu released her. After getting away Lozano was able to call police.

Bernabeu and Lozano had two children together.
