A Miami mother has been arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse after her 1-year-old child was badly burned Thursday morning.
Kamesha Seymour, 20, denied hurting her child, but could not explain to investigators how the toddler suffered second-degree burns over its entire body, an arrest report stated.
According to police, Miami Fire Rescue responded to a home in the 7800 block of NE 2nd Avenue after receiving a call from a neighbor. The child was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, authorities said.
Doctors told police the burns were the result of child abuse, the report said.
Seymour, who is deaf, was taken to the police station for questioning.
Authorities said the family had no history with the Department of Children and Families.
Seymour was being held on $50,000 bond.
