The city of Chicago plans to honor soul singer Sam Cooke with his own street.

City officials will rename a section of 36th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue “Sam Cooke Way” during a Saturday afternoon ceremony. Cooke once lived near the street location in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood.

Cooke sang chart topping hit songs during the 1950s and 1960s like “You Send Me,” ‘’Wonderful World” and “Twistin’ the Night Away.” He’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
