Radio station fosters homophobic spoof against singer Miguel

News One

New York’s popular urban radio station 105.1 FM aired a homophobic spoof this morning of rising R&B singer Miguel’s hit “Sure Thing” alleging he’s hiding his sexuality.

As the station played the Billboard #1 single, its lyric “You can bet that, you don’t have to sweat that” was replaced with “You can bet that, Miguel wants your butt crack,” followed by a voice asserting “n*** you’re gay.”

Miguel has addressed these rumors before. “The honest truth is I love women”, said the singer in an interview with radio host Kenny Burns. I’ve always openly loved women.” However, the current spoof has gay and lesbian listeners, including the LGBT-allied Human Rights Campaign, condemning the remarks.
