LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says it will not seek criminal charges against The Game after a tweet from the rapper’s account incited a telephone flash mob that overwhelmed the emergency phone system at a sheriff’s station.

In a statement Wednesday, sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker said The Game’s decision to apologize for the incident “is relevant and well-received.” The rapper apologized earlier during an interview on CNN.

He says the department made the decision to drop the matter based on its own investigation and after consultation with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

A message posted on The Game’s twitter account Friday encouraged his 580,000 followers to call a phone number if they wanted an internship. The number belonged to the sheriff’s station in Compton.
