VH1’s Single Ladies is the urban world’s Sex in the City and losing Stacey Dash is like replacing Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw.
theGrio: The dish behind Stacey Dash ditching ‘Single Ladies’
Since episode 1, Queen Latifah’s scripted series with all of it’s fierce fashion and steamy story lines, was a Monday night favorite. ‘All the single ladies’ loved it, choosing which character they were of the group, while the men drooled, picking which single lady was their wife.
The show set in ‘Hotlanta’, the land of fashion, music and celebrities, followed the lives of three single and beautiful best friends with different philosophies on sex, money and relationships.
But more than the story line, it’s the leading ladies that drove the shows success. LisaRaye McCoy’s strong curves and personality brought the appropriate attitude to Keisha’s gold-digging character. And Stacey Dash’s grace, charm and sexiness was perfect for the hopelessly romantic character of ‘Val’.
The show had just the right balance of class and sass. And this is why the announcement made by the former Clueless actress stating that she has decided to leave the show, has left fans devastated. Some say they will probably never watch the show again. Others are wondering who will wear those cute little dresses next season?
It has been rumored that Meagan Good has been offered the role but many aren’t sure if she possesses the sweet, sophistication that the role entails. Who can walk in Dash’s Louboutins? Click on this slideshow to view our picks.
