MC Hammer’s music may no longer be heard on the airwaves, but the rapper who over the course of his career sold more than 50 million records worldwide, is staying relevant through various ventures, most recently in technology.
The rapper, real name Stanley Kirk Burrell, has transitioned into the tech industry with ZAGGmate, a case/stand for Apple iPads. Last January, Burrell appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to demonstrate the product. Not all of Burrell’s products have made the cut: in 2008, he became a co-creator of a now-defunct dance website called DanceJam. But his latest venture is tapping into the tablet craze, and showing off Hammer’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Burrell is making history as… A rapper who is leaping into the lucrative technology sector.
What’s next for Burrell?
Burrell is also the CEO of Alchemist Management, a group that manages MMA fighters.
A little-known fact…
Burrell has 2.4 million followers on Twitter.
