LAS VEGAS (AP) — An associate of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is taking a plea deal that could get him 18 years in prison for shooting at two men in a car after one of them argued with the boxer in Las Vegas.

Ocie Harris entered a plea equivalent to no contest Friday on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of firing a weapon into a vehicle.

Mayweather’s name never came up during the brief appearance in Nevada state court.

Judge Douglas Herndon scheduled sentencing for Aug. 23.

Harris lives in Chicago. He and his lawyer declined to comment outside court.

Authorities say seven shots were fired in the August 2009 shooting outside the Crystal Palace Skate Center, but neither man in the BMW sedan was wounded.
