Yesterday, Nas dropped “Daughters,” the third single on his upcoming album, Life Is Good. Produced by No I.D., “Daughters” is a track that touches on fatherhood and the trials of raising a girl. Nas’ full lyrical ability is on display; he gets reflective on how important it is for men to be in their daughters’ lives and how it can effect their transition into motherhood.
This is clearly one of Nas’ more personal records, as he sharply critiques himself on how he could’ve been a better parent to his daughter, Destiny. He even mentions an uncomfortable moment when he discovered his daughter was tweeting about a box of condoms a few months back, and the social media backlash that followed. Life is Good is scheduled to be released July 17th.
