Beyoncé attended the annual Met Costume Institute Gala on Monday evening in New York City, and created quite a stir in a body-revealing gown by Givenchy. The show-stopping piece clung to every curve on the star’s torso, as its sheer skirt displayed the singer’s toned thighs. Perfectly-placed beading decorated her derriere, the drape from her posterior flowing into a train adorned with luxurious purple feathers.
At an event that typically showcases the most fashionable people on the planet, Ms. Knowles certainly made an impression — unfortunately, not for the good.
The Sun didn’t mince words about Beyoncé’s bold choice, sniping that “the sheer mesh dress embellished with sequins and boas looked more cruise ship than red carpet.”

The British tabloid also criticized her for putting “her bum cheeks on display.”
These snipes aside, most star watchers agree: Queen B has firmly established that her post-baby body is back in top form. Yet, despite the fact that “the figure hugging lace bodysuit … showed Beyoncé has gotten back into shape since giving birth,” according to ContactMusic, “the bum baring ensemble couldn’t compete with the other gowns on show.”
Many believe Beyoncé’s sister Solange was among the best-dressed of the night for the relative simplicity of her yellow sheath with a peplum detail. Other stars giving great fashion at the event held to honor the opening of the “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” Metropolitan Museum exhibit included Rihanna, model Chanel Iman, Janelle Monae and Kanye West.
Love it or loathe it, Beyoncé’s Costume Institute Gala frock (and shapely form) will remain etched into the public’s memory for some time.
