She moved quickly, calling out to the suspect “What the . . . are you doing, trying to steal my car!” She then engaged in some community policing.

“I put it in park. Head-locked him. Pushed the unlock. Clicked here. Opened it up. Went in. Grabbed him,” she said. She then scolded him again, saying ‘What the . . . are you doing trying to steal my car!”

Chaney said the car belonged to her mom who had recently passed away so it was very special to her. There was no way she was going to give it up without a fight.

The man was able to run away but was caught by police a short distance away. Charles Holding, 22, was accused of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and second-degree trespassing.

He was released on his own recognizance.
