Former sailor teaches Rihanna to shoot guns on 'Battleship'

NBC LATINO - Jacqueline Carrizosa taught Rihanna everything she needed to know in order to play her motion picture debut as Petty Officer Second Class Cora Raikes in 'Battleship'...

From NBC Latino: Jacqueline Carrizosa is 22 and her strong arms are wallpapered with tattoos. She is a pro at all things weaponry, from shooting a rifle to launching a grenade. Starting Friday in U.S. theaters, Rihanna will be replicating her pugnacious moves in the movie “Battleship.”

It was Carrizosa who taught the singer everything she needed to know in order to play her motion picture debut as Petty Officer Second Class Cora Raikes. This is her very first time as a technical advisor in a movie, and it all happened by chance. She says she was playing soccer on a military field where director, Peter Berg, spotted her.

“I was the only girl, and Pete was scouting locations,” says Carrizosa. “He took a picture of me and my shirt and said, ‘You’re pretty much the character I want to portray. If you’re interested in training Rihanna, let me know. If not, thanks anyway, you’re bad ass…’”

She says she doubted the opportunity would actually transpire, because she was active duty in the U.S. Navy and time off was difficult to obtain. However, when she was told that wouldn’t be an issue, she didn’t think twice to sign up to work with Rihanna every day for about a month from sunrise to sunset.
