WASHINGTON (AP) — Former District of Columbia Mayor Marion Barry has been hospitalized in Las Vegas.
Barry is currently a District of Columbia council member. His chief of staff told The Associated Press on Monday that Barry is resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery.
The 76-year-old Barry told WRC-TV that he developed a blood clot. He also mentioned the blood clot on his Twitter account Sunday night, saying it developed while he was waiting on a plane in Memphis, Tenn., on the way to Las Vegas. He told WRC that it had no impact on his “physical feeling or mental ability.”
Barry, current Mayor Vincent Gray and several other councilmembers are in Las Vegas for the annual convention of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
