New York Knicks player Amar’e Stoudemire proposed to his longterm girlfriend, Alexis Welch, in Paris over the weekend, the New York Post reports.

“Stoudemire asked Welch for her hand in marriage with a romantic moonlit proposal Saturday while overlooking the city and the lights of the Eiffel Tower from the private terrace of their penthouse, the Belle Etoile Royal Suite, at the luxury Le Meurice Hotel,” the paper elaborated.

Stoudemire posted on Twitter yesterday evening following his proposal: “When she said yes, it was surreal. I’m still floating. #engaged.” Welch’s ring was designed by celebrity jewelry designer Shayan Afshar.

Welch and Stoudemire had spent time on a historical tour of the city before the New York Knicks’ captain asked the mother of his three children for her hand in marriage. Their kids, Amar’e Jr., 5, Ar’e, 6, and Assata, 4, also joined the couple on their trip to France. Now back in Miami, a rep has confirmed that the couple plans to marry in 2013.
