Famed recording artists Beyoncé and Jay-Z found the name for their firstborn child on an island in the Adriatic Sea. According to Time.com, the couple shot a video while on a trip to Croatia of Beyoncé standing next to a tree wrapped in ivy, throughout the video the pop diva contemplates naming her daughter Blue Ivy. The baby’s unique name has now earned her honorary citizenship in Hvar, the town the video was recorded in. Time.com reports:
And to think that you thought the name Blue Ivy wasn’t going to work for the daughter of singers Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Folks in the Croatian town of Hvar, however, have become quite enthralled with the baby’s name after local news stations unearthed a video that appears to show Beyoncé may have been inspired to give her daughter that name after a visit to the Adriatic Sea resort.
To honor that connection, Hvar has named Blue Ivy an honorary citizen of the town.
