Missing toddler found dead in family's closet
A 1-year-old was found dead inside of a closet in her family's Detroit home just hours after being reported missing.
A 1-year-old was found dead inside of a closet in her family’s Detroit home just hours after being reported missing.
17-month-old Zyia Turner was last seen at her grandmother, Bridget Elam’s east Detroit home. She was left in the care of her uncle while Elam ran errands.
The family says they looked everywhere for Zyia and called the police when they could not locate her. Cadaver dogs were brought in to aid in the search and Zyia’s body was found under a pile of clothes in a closet inside the home.
Police are questioning several people concerning the child’s death, but Zyia’s Grandmother believes that her grand daughter’s death was a freak accident. She thinks that Zyia tried to climb up in the closet and got hurt.
An autopsy has been completed,but the results have yet to be released.
