The unemployment rate in the Motor City has decreased for African-Americans. The Economic Policy Institute says the unemployment rate fell 7.3 percent between 2010 and 2011. This decrease is believed to be largely due to the resurgence of the auto industry in Michigan. WDIV reports:

A new report said African Americans unemployment is falling in metropolitan Detroit, even as it remains well above the rate for white workers.

The Economic Policy Institute said African Americans in the Detroit area had an 18.1 percent jobless rate last year, down from 2010’s 25.4 percent.
