Cancer patient struggles with massive tumor on head

A massive lump nearly the size of a football has been growing on Danita Tate’s head for nine months.  She says it’s a rare cancer that has doctors stumped and nearly everyone has given up on her.

“I’m fighting for my life. Everyday I sit here and I’m fighting for my life,” said Tate. Tate says her health started spiraling out of control three years ago. Cancer from her stomach spread to her lymph nodes, and now has spread to her head.

She says her doctors tell her there’s little hope for survival, but Tate says she has no choice but to hope, because three years ago she also had her son. “When you see your child running around and they don’t know what to do and I don’t know what to do for him. When I first had him, I was going to protect him. I can’t protect him now,” said Tate.

Now Tate wants answers. She says she told doctors from the beginning about the growth, but they hesitated to act. She says now doctors are telling her she only has a few months to live. With little resources, her family is helping care for her and her son for now. “I’ve seen miracle stories and I know and I pray to God that I’m one of them,” said Tate.
