The NYPD subpoenaed Twitter to try and identify someone who threatened a Broadway theater.  An unidentified Twitter user took to his/her account and revealed plans to attack the Longacre Theater where Mike Tyson’s show recently opened.  Investigators became aware of the threat last Friday when they saw a Twitter user promising to commit mass murder at the Longacre Theater.

Spike Lee, the show’s director said, “I have full confidence in Police Commissioner Kelly. He’s gonna do what needs to be done.”  He also added he does not want the threats to turn away ticket holders.

Until today, the NYPD was frustrated with Twitter executives who refused to release private information about the threat-maker.  Twitter insisted on a court order.  Twitter is now cooperating with officials and releasing the user’s private information.
