The official FDNY 2013 calendar went on sale on last Monday. It features 13 shirtless firefighters showing off their chiseled abs for the sake of charity. The $15.95 FDNY Calendar of Heroes is produced annually to raise money for fire prevention programs.

“The rewards of this official FDNY calendar are seen year round in the thousands of fire safety education events it helps fund and in the historic low number of fire related fatalities it helps this Department achieve,” said Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano. “Fire Safety Education is vital to the residents of New York City…we’ve put together a fun and exciting way to help bring more attention to this very worthy cause.”

Queens firefighter Darius Dorsett, 26, is featured on the cover. He poses with his chest bared in a flame-resistant fireman’s jacket and helmet in front of a fire house. Assigned to Engine 260 in Long Island City, Queens, Dorsett started out as an EMT when he was a teenager.

Today he plans on training for the New York City marathon and confessed to the New York Daily News that he achieved his physique without a gym membership. He simply does basic calisthenics at his local park 4-5 times a week.
