Country star John Rich and American Idol alum Clay Aiken played ‘nice’ together while they were contestants on The Celebrity Apprentice in 2011, but now the two are at war.

Rich is accusing Aiken of making racist jokes on his Twitter feed during the Republican National Convention.

The former Idol runner up tweeted to his followers, “We drink every time we see a black person on screen at the RNC convention. #soberasamormon.”

Rich, who is a die-hard Republican, was outraged by Aiken’s message and proceeded to go on a Twitter rant, calling Aiken’s comments “racist.”

Aiken then replied: “My charity is. Why isn’t your party? ;-)”

This week the hashtag #negrospotting was trending among black Twitter users who sought to point out the lack of diversity on the floor of the Republican National Convention. Aiken clearly wanted to echo their sentiment, but was his tweet a step too far?
