Today Hollywood is mourning the death of Michael Clarke Duncan. The Green Mile actor died Sunday morning at the age of 54, after suffering from complications following a near-fatal heart attack he had in July. Duncan was expected to make a full recovery from his cardiac arrest, so his death a shock to many of his fans and colleagues.

The 6’5 actor was engaged to reality TV star Omarosa Manigault Stallworth at the time of his death, and the couple planned to wed in January 2013. According to his rep, “Omarosa Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”

The Celebrity Apprentice star spoke to RadarOnline.com today and said, “I’m devastated. He was the love of my life.”

Duncan was known throughout Hollywood as a gentle giant, and appeared alongside countless A-list actors in films including Armageddon, The Whole Nine Yards, Daredevil, Kung Fu Panda, and Green Lantern.

In the 1990’s, before breaking into acting, Duncan worked as a bodyguard for celebrities like Jamie Foxx, Will Smith, LL Cool J, Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, and Notorious B.I.G.

Duncan was nominated for an Academy Award for his role starring alongside Tom Hanks in the The Green Mile.

“I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike,” Hanks said in a statement. “He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic. He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned.”
