A Pennsylvania woman is out on bail and her children have been put in the care of youth services after police say she has confessed to using her kids to try to steal $85 dollars worth of merchandise from a grocery store.

“I truly believe the kids didn’t know what they were doing, they were just following mom’s orders,” says Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. Police say the two kids were brought to the store by their mother, 36-year-old Nakeisha Williams, around 9:30 on Friday night.

Williams paid for the food items, but she allegedly told the kids to leave the store with the rest. Chitwood says the kids didn’t know they were pushing stolen goods outside the store, and say Williams confessed to using her kids to trying to get away with the crime.

Williams is now charged with a number of crimes, including corruption and endangering her children as well as theft. Investigators say that she told them she figured store security wouldn’t stop the kids.
