Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson is set to appear on season 2 of NBC’s Smash.

The Dreamgirls actress will star in a multi-episode arc as a Broadway star named Veronica Moore. NBC released an extended preview of season 2, moments ago, and Hudson lights up the screen as she lends her powerhouse vocals to countless scenes.

Hudson joins her fellow American Idol alum Katharine McPhee, who plays the show’s main character.

During an interview earlier this year, Hudson, who is a fan of Smash, revealed that was she nervous to take on the role of Veronica.

“It’s just the perfect opportunity,” she said. “It’s gonna be challenging, and I’m a little bit intimidated to play this big Broadway star. But it’s gonna be a great experience. I can’t wait to get started.”

Season 2 of Smash premieres on Tuesday, February 5 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
