Fashions worn by celebrities this Grammy weekend ranged from pretty and playful to brash as stars stepped out in style for numerous events all weekend long — particularly the day before and in the hours after the Grammy Awards show.

Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy gala on Saturday attracted a bevy of beautifully-dressed African-American luminaries whose gowns, jackets and accessories rivaled what they would wear on the red carpet for Grammy night. While the women opted for more formal glam, men who attended went bold — even wearing gold, as did singer Akon with his metallic motorcycle jacket, one of the night’s most eye-catching looks.

Brandy also made a fun style statement at the event in a black-and-white patterned minidress.

After the Grammy Awards (during which some stars made stunning outfit changes), many continued the evening of festive fashion expression by showing off even more fabulous selections from their enviable wardrobes.

Kelly Rowland opted for a slinky long red number for the afterparties to complement the deftly cut black dress that she selected for the main event. Rihanna chose a two piece halter top and long white sarong to party into the wee hours of the night after sitting next to Chris Brown in a bright red dress for the show.

Speaking of Chris Brown, he held his own afterparty to celebrate this big night in music, to which Ciara wore a graphic-striped frock, partaking in one of the latest trends. Grammy Award winner Miguel jumped on the stripes bandwagon as well for his jacket worn after the ceremony.

Some of these ensembles are prettier than those selected for the official Grammys red carpet. What do you think? Did these stars do better with their fashion choices for the events surrounding the Grammy Awards, or during the show?
