Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. celebrates 100th anniversary of women's suffrage

NBC Washington, D.C. – The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. gathered to march along the national mall today, marking the 100th anniversary of a march to help women get the right to vote.

The predominately black sisterhood was founded 100-years ago at Howard University.  As their first public act, the Deltas participated in the Women’s Suffrage March in March 1913.

Today, the sorority is a non-profit organization with over 900 chapters located around the world.

As thousands joined in the march that passed by the White House earlier today, we were reminded of some famous members of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
