Beyoncé creates a stir with release of new Pepsi ad
Beyoncé released a video yesterday enticing fans with news that she would be making an announcement this morning at 9 a.m.
What did she release? A video of her new Pepsi commercial, which also features a new single called “Mirrors.”
The ad begins with the pop star dancing in front of a mirror, followed by a quick sashay to a cold can of Pepsi. After taking a few gulps of the beverage, multiple past incarnations of herself appear in surrounding mirrors including the Beyoncé we have seen donning a white tank top and jean shorts in her “Crazy In Love” video and her all-black leotard getup in “Single Ladies” — she even posed in the pink leather two-piece she sported in her Destiny’s Child “Bootylicious” video.
The images tie into the closing theme she mentions at the end of the commercial. “Embrace your past, but live for now,” she says.
The ad is part of the Beyoncé’s $50 million contract with Pepsi, a promotional deal she signed to last December.
It’s no surprise the singer would choose to create such a kerfuffle today, April 4th.
The singer was born on the 4th of September, while husband Jay-z’s birthday is December 4th. In addition, the singer also named her fourth album 4 and referenced the roman numeral version of the number in her daughter Blue Ivy’s name.
To add to the list, today also marks the fifth anniversary of Beyoncé and Jay-z’s wedding nuptials.
