HOUSTON (AP) — Two former Houston police officers accused of beating a black teenage burglary suspect have been sentenced to two years of probation.
Ex-officers Phil Bryan and Raad Hassan each entered no contest pleas to a misdemeanor charge of official oppression during a court hearing Wednesday.
Bryan and Hassan were among four former Houston officers who were fired and later indicted for their roles in the March 2010 beating of 15-year-old Chad Holley in broad daylight, which was caught on video surveillance.
Bryan, Hassan and Drew Ryser had been scheduled to go to trial Monday. A special prosecutor in the case says Ryser’s trial may now be delayed.
The fourth former officer was acquitted in May.
