Gabby Douglas: 'My life has been a whirlwind'

Gabby Douglas made history at the London Olympic Games last summer, becoming the first American gymnast to be a team and individual all-around gold medalist.

In the less than nine months since, she’s already authored two books. Her latest, Raising the Bar, is more like a scrapbook  of her post Olympics career according to the Virginia Beach native. Her first book, Grace, Gold & Glory: My Leap of Faith, chronicled her journey from training at the age of six to her huge triumph in London in 2012.

“A lot of people wanted to know the ‘life of Gabby Douglas,'” Douglas told Today Show host Savannah Guthrie.

Raising the Bar shows everything Douglas has been up to outside of the gym, including an incredible performance alongside Alicia Keys at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.

“She was a joy,” Douglas said of meeting and performing with Keys. “I loved performing on the stage and the VMAs is definitely a fun thing for me. It was very exciting.”

Douglas confirmed to Guthrie that she will be “returning to the gym” in a few weeks.
