Beyoncé is one busy woman, but she took a break from her Mrs. Carter tour schedule to talk to Good Morning America on Monday.

In the exclusive one-on-one interview, the Grammy-winning singer opened up about motherhood, her recent trip to Cuba and her role as the voice of ‘Queen Tara’ in the upcoming animated film Epic.

“I was so honored when they asked for me to do this role,” Beyoncé says. “I was actually pregnant at the time and I thought, by the time this comes out my daughter will understand that this is my voice.”

“It’s such a beautiful role, it has so much depth it’s so emotional. I was literally crying when I did the voice-over. It was the first thing I did after giving birth.”

Cuba vacation, putting family first

Beyoncé also touched on her controversial trip to Cuba with husband Jay-Z and said she found the reaction from politicians and some in the media to be “quite shocking.”

But she went on to say, “it was such a beautiful trip. I met some incredible children, I visited some incredible entrepreneurs. I learned so much about so many people in the country.”

However, aside from her vacations and latest business ventures, including partnering with H&M and Pepsi for multimillion dollar campaigns, the “Crazy in Love” singer said she puts family and friends first.

“At the end of the day, I’m still the exact same person. I still like the simple things,” she told GMA. “My goals and my dreams are the same. I just want happiness and great friends and great family.”

More kids in the future?

As for future plans on expanding her family, Beyoncé admitted that she welcomes the idea of her 1-year-old daughter Blue Ivy having siblings.

“I would like more children. I think my daughter needs company,” she said.

When exactly does she plan of having more kids? Beyoncé said, “At some point, when it’s supposed to happen.”

For right now, the singer said she is primarily focused on protecting her daughter and fulfilling her role as a mother.

“My biggest job in the world is to protect my daughter and I am very protective,” she said. “I just want to make sure she can have a healthy, safe, normal life.”

“I feel really, really lucky that I can still do what I love and now have a way bigger meaning and that’s to be her mother.”
