West coast rapper and singer Nate Dogg passed away tragically from complications from multiple strokes in 2011, but his legacy still lives on the football gridiron.
Naijiel Hale, Nate Dogg’s only son, has accepted an offer to play collegiate football at the University of Arizona.
The four-star recruit announced at The Opening on ESPNU yesterday that he will be taking his talents to Tucson.
Hale attended St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California along with fellow top recruit Jaleel Wadood. Najijiel is listed as the 20th best cornerback in the country by Scout.com, 28th by 247Sports.com, and 33rd by Rivals.com.
Scout describes the 5’11,” 170 lbs defensive back as “agile, fast and good hips, which are ideal for a corner, but also likes to hit and plays the run like a safety or OLB.”
Hale was all-league and all-region his junior year in high school, and he maintained a 3.0 GPA.
He was heavily recruited by several other schools including California, Nebraska, Arizona State, Boise State, Utah, and Washington State.
“I’ve known I’ve wanted to play for [Arizona] since the day they offered me,” Hale told the Arizona Daily Star. “They’ve been my top school since Day 1.”
