Legendary comic Bill Cosby shot his last stand-up special 30 years ago.

The 1983 act, repackaged as Bill Cosby: Himself remains one of the most popular comedy performances of all time and its material was a huge influence on the early seasons of the blockbuster 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show.

Now, according to Entertainment Weekly, the 76-year-old is ready to put his new material on tape again, for the first time since Himself.

And it will be directed by Hollywood Shuffle filmmaker Robert Townsend, who also helmed Eddie Murphy’s 1987 classic Raw.

Comedy Central will be airing the special (which was captures a performance by the Cos at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center), titled Far From Finished, on November 24th.

When asked why he’s doing another stand-up special after all these years Cosby reportedly said, “Because…funny is funny.”
