Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

The New York Daily Newsfront page cover on Monday was dedicated to Trayvon Martin and the George Zimmerman trial.

The front page of the newspaper shows an image of a faceless body wearing a grey hooded jacket, which references the clothing Martin wore at the time of his death.

Zimmerman, who claimed self-defense, was found not guilty on Saturday after a six-member jury acquitted him of second-degree murder charges against the unarmed teen.

While the front page stories of several news organizations are blasting the latest in the aftermath of the verdict, the Daily News cover is one of the most provocative.

Also on the cover is a list of infamous martyrs of the civil rights movement and victims of past hate crimes, linking Martin to the likes of Emmett Till, Willie Edwards and James Byrd Jr.

“Trayvon Martin, an African-American killed in an attack seen by many as racially motivated, is just the latest name in a sad roll call. These gruesome hate crimes dating to the ’50s also stirred widespread shock and fury…” reads the first line of the cover story.

This issue of the New York Daily News is only on newsstands in New York today.
