‘Long Walk to Freedom’: First full-length trailer for Nelson Mandela biopic

The first full-length trailer has been released for the latest Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Idris Elba plays the iconic South African leader in the film and the British actor embodies Mandela’s character, speech and unyielding determination in his fight to rid the country of aparthied.

“Shall we begin?” Elba says in the trailer, which shows short clips of Mandela’s tumultuous journey to fight for his own freedom and the liberty of a nation ruled by an oppressive, white minority regime.

The film is directed by Jason Chadwick, who also helmed The Other Boleyn Girl and The First Grader.

The latter movie featured Skyfall’s Naomie Harris, who also appears in Long Walk to Freedom as Mandela’s wife, Winnie.

A teaser trailer was released last week which gave viewers a short, yet powerful glimpse of the Oscar-buzzworthy film. 

The movie, which was produced by The Weinstein Company, is set to be released in select theaters on November 29th.
