Celebrity hair stylist Kim Kimble discusses Beyoncé’s hair evolution

theGRIO VIDEO - Celebrity hair stylist Kim Kimble talks about season 2 of 'L.A. Hair' and discusses Beyoncé's hair evolution...

For more than a decade Kim Kimble’s name has been synonymous with beauty and glamour, due to her work with celebrity clients including Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Mary J. Blige, Gabrielle Union, and Fantasia.

These days, Kimble is best known for her WE tv reality series, L.A. Hair, which is now in its second season. The show takes viewers behind-the-scenes as Kimble builds up her business and brand while dealing with the drama of her stylists.

This season she rises to new heights while styling the locks of celebrities including Chaka Khan, Michelle Williams, Vivica Fox, Lil’ Mama, LisaRaye, Kyla Pratt, Faith Evans, LeToya Luckett and Debbie Allen.

During an interview on The Dish with Chris Witherspoon, Kimble discussed the hair evolution of one of her most famous clients, Beyoncé Knowles.

Kimble has styled Beyoncé’s hair for all her featured film roles, many of her music videos, and most recently her Super Bowl performance.

Today Beyoncé created a stir, after releasing new photos on Instagram, rocking a blonde pixie cut.

“It’s collaboration,” Kimble says of styling Beyoncé’s hair. “Sometimes she’ll come in and say, ‘this is what I want to do,’ but I’ll always come with ideas.”

“There’s three principles about hair styling for me: great cut, great color, great style. All of them work together. If you have bad color, the cut just doesn’t work.”

Kimble is responsible for Beyoncé’s decision to go blonder and blonder over the past decade and says that hair color is a big part of the “Crazy In Love” singer’s brand.

“I don’t think she’s trying to make a statement by going lighter. I think she can do lighter. Plus she has a color contract with L’Oreal, so color is a big part of her style.”

Kim revealed that up next she will be collaborating with Beyoncé on new music videos.

“I’m going to be working with her soon,” Kimble said. “I’m doing some music videos. So I’ll be back here in New York.”

Tune into to WE tv tonight at 9/8C for an all-new episode of L.A. Hair.
