According to two new polls, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is leading in the New York City mayoral race.
The New York Times/Siena poll released earlier today reports de Blasio had the support of 32 percent of likely Democratic voters.
Former comptroller Bill Thompson followed with 18 percent, as well as city council speaker Christine Quinn with 17 percent.
Similar results were found in today’s amNew York/News 12 poll. De Blasio lead with 29 percent, followed by Thompson with 24 percent and Quinn with 17 percent of potential Democratic voters.
A Quinnapiac University poll released earlier this month suggested de Blasio’s stance on the controversial stop-and-frisk policy was helping him gain support from potential Democratic voters. The poll had de Blasio leading with the support of 30 percent of likely Democratic voters.
The NYT/Siena poll surveyed 505 potential Democratic voters between August 19 and August 28. The amNewYork-News 12 poll surveyed 600 likely Democratic voters and 400 likely Republican voters from August 22 to August 27.
